I am in the circle

People are different in preferring or being able to get along with the generations of other ages. For me, it is very easy to keep a conversation with older people even for a continued few hours. Very old people are more convenient in this regard. Well, in the later, most of the time you just have to listen well. They always feel that they have to transfer their experiences to younger ones. Things that they could not accomplish are usually what they try to find fulfilled in young people.

Today I was invited to a regular lunch meeting of my supervisor's friends. There were three of them with their wives, all with cement science background. It has been almost ten years since their retirement. They are actually 'heroes' in this field, like top ten in cement chemistry. I have always referenced to their works that goes back to early seventies. They picked up an Indian restaurant where they had buffet today. The amazing conversation took about four hours before we realize that the restaurant is going to get ready for the dinner.

These elite people are overwhelmingly inspiring. I can see my future in their faces. The way that they are dedicated to science is admirable. They shared with me interesting stories of the past and lessons they learned but some was too late. It was really a great pleasure for me to meet them. I will attend their next meetings as they welcomed me in their circle of friends.
