Photo by Hassan Ghaediافتتاح یک باند از این پل بعد از سالها انتظار قطعا در کاهش هزینه های حمل و نقل و رونق توریستی منطقه آذربایجان بسیار موثر خواهد بود. اما نکته ای که نظر من رو جلب کرد وجود این رنگهای نارنجی و قهوه ای بر روی پایه بتنی پل هست که نشان از خوردگی آرماتور دارد. این علامت ظاهری معمولا بعد از چندین سال از شروع زنگ زدن میل گرد داخل بتن بوجود میاد و هشداری قبل از ایجاد تخریبهای جدی در سازه بتنی هست. امیدوارم که اینطور نباشد و این پل به تعمیر پیش از موعد نیاز پیدا نکند

I hate this really MAD and STUPID Engineers that Do not like to use their BRAINS(if any) for a moment... I also hate the bridge... It is so ugly, all Environmental issues have been ignored, there is no architechtural concept for there decks and piers,as well as no durability design for corrosion as you mentiond. Prof. Ghalibafina believed that corrosion would not be a serious one because of (salt)saturated water, but I guess it may not be correct for splash zone... the red spots on the concrete, in my opinion, is related to corrosion of mold holders and steel bolts, not the reinforcement. But regarding many other experiments, I see CMI team evaluating it in few next years :) :(

I just had a trip to Orumiye this spring, and everything was damaged... as you know, to set the pires in the lake, they have filled the base of the lake on bridge lane with extra soil... this has distrurbed water flow between northern lake and southern lake. and the equilibrium in salt concentration has been disordered... This affects several environmental issues, the most important one was the pelicans lives during their migration,,, I dont know what such a crazy project has took this long period, and these extensive troubles... IfIt was to me, I would just broke it down!!!!! :) (Seems that I am crazy too)

AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design code 2005: Clause C 2.5.5. "Significant improvements in appearance can ofte be made with small changes in shape or position of structural members at negligible cost. For prominent bridges, however, additional cost to achieve improved appearance is often justified, considering that the bridge will likely be a feature of the landscape for 75 or more years."
